The information of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan -UPDATED

Based on recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the experience of other countries, it was decided to close the state borders under restrictive regime between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Islamic  Republic of Iran  for two weeks  starting from February 29,2020, 16:00 due to the spread of coronavirus risk.

The prevailing situation was discussed wish relevant state bodies of Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic Republic of Iran was informed about the decision adopted by the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The necessary corridor will be provided in coordination with Islamic Republic of Iran for the departure of the citizens of Iran who are in Azerbaijan, and the arrival of Azerbaijani citizens to the country who are in Iran by applying relevant regime. If needed, the citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran will be granted with humanitarian visas.

The Republic of Azerbaijan keeps close cooperative relationships with World Health Organization, friendly and partner states to address the risk of coronavirus risk.

Two Azerbaijani citizens who returned from Islamic Republic of Iran showed symptoms of coronavirus disease. In line with relevant guidelines they were placed at special infection box of the hospital. They have tested positive for coronavirus. Currently treatment of patients is underway, their condition is stable.
Necessary measures are taken to identify the persons with whom they had close contact.
