34% of the population benefited from mandatory health insurance during the first half of the year

The State Agency of Mandatory Health Insurance presents the statistical data on the services provided to citizens by medical institutions subordinate to TABIB within the framework of mandatory health insurance from January to June of 2023.

State medical institutions received nearly 11 million requests from 3.3 million persons during the first six months of current year. This means that 34% of the country's overall population benefited from the mandatory health insurance. The total number of provided services reached 32,157,216. Of the medical services provided, 85% were in outpatient settings and 15% were in inpatient settings.

Considering that there are 104 medical institutions subordinate to Baku Main Medical Center, the lion's share of the services provided during the said period falls on the Center.

The following five state medical institutions provided the largest number of medical services: Sumgait Medical Center, Ganja City United Hospital, Republican Clinical Hospital named after. M. A. Mirgasymov, Narimanov Medical Center, and Clinical Medical Center.

The main diseases that are most often the reasons for service requests are general medical examination, diseases of the respiratory system, and diseases of the endocrine system, circulatory system, and genitourinary system. 

Services provided by contracting medical institutions

When citizens need services that cannot be provided in state medical institutions subordinate to TABIB, they receive referrals to medical institutions (i.e., private institutions and institutions subordinate to the relevant state bodies) that have concluded relevant agreements with the Agency.  Thus, 142,166 referrals were issued to citizens from January to June of this year.

Citizens with relevant referrals were able to benefit from 55,393 medical services under mandatory health insurance during the period from January to June. Of these, 1,042 services were received by children and 54,351 by adults.

Number of the operations and procedures performed within the scope of the following medical services:

• ophthalmic diseases – 18,251

• cardiovascular diseases – 16,342

• interventional radiology services – 12,547

• urological diseases – 2,589

• neurosurgery services – 1,727

7 cochlear implantations and 1,574 endoprosthesis replacement operations were performed.

It should be noted that the provision of services by contracting medical institutions to citizens on the basis of referrals issued from January to June of this year, as well as their registration in the electronic register, are both currently ongoing.
