60 Managers study the experience of Türkiye in the field of hospital management

Within the framework of the “Protocol on Provision of Educational Services and Scientific Cooperation” signed between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and Ankara University, a training on the topic “Hospital Management” was held on November 14-17 this year.

The purpose of the training, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is to improve the knowledge and skills of the administrative staff of hospitals and to bring the management mechanisms of healthcare institution, where mandatory health insurance is applied in line with the international practices.

Zaur Aliyev, the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, and Nigar Bayramova, the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Vugar Gurbanov, the Executive Director of the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), Jahit Bagchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Fatih Yılmaz, TIKA Coordinator, Nejdet Unuvar, Rector of Ankara University and Amina Ozmete, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, along with the administrative staff of state medical institutions attended the opening ceremony of the training organized by Ankara University and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

Zaur Aliyev, the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, delivered an opening speech at the event and spoke about the results of the forward-looking policy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev: “Hundreds of specialist doctors who were sent to Türkiye for higher medical education and advanced training courses after Azerbaijan gained its independence are now protecting the health of our people. In order to continue this tradition, last year, managers from 27 state health institutions participated in the training courses held in Ankara under the Protocol signed between the Agency and Ankara University. Sixty people from state medical institutions will attend in a four-day training seminar in Baku to involve more hospital managers in the training. I hope you will apply the knowledge gained during the training in your work and do your best to improve the performance of medical institutions.”

Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of TABIB, noted the improvements in hospital management methods: “Hospitals play an important role in the healthcare system, so continuous efforts should be made to adapt the work of hospitals to changing needs. Identifying needs, eliminating problems, and improving management in the hospital sector are crucial. We are currently working on improving hospital management methods, including the introduction of new technologies within the mandatory health insurance system, identifying new financing mechanisms, improving infrastructure, reducing the workload of staff and using resources efficiently.”

Nejdet Unuvar emphasized that the training program conducted by the university’s teaching staff  would be beneficial for local hospitals: “I believe that the 4-day training dedicated to hospital management will contribute to this work. On this occasion, I would like to thank our trainers who will share the potential of our country and our university with the Azerbaijani managers and all the organizations that organized the event”.

Fatih Yılmaz spoke about the importance of the work done for the exchange of experience between the relevant institutions and specialists of the two brotherly countries: "Projects aimed at strengthening the healthcare infrastructure and increasing the knowledge and skills of medical workers are always in the focus of TIKA. As in other fields, we are fully confident that relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the field of healthcare will continue to develop and strengthen”.

It should be noted that the training conducted by the professors of the Department of Healthcare Management of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Ankara University and the specialists of Ankara Bilkent City Hospital covered topics such as management and organization of hospitals, corporate communication and public relations, financial management, quality and supply chain management.

In addition, as part of the program, the trainees will visit Absheron District Central Hospital to get a visual introduction to the topics taught. The trainees will visit the Hospital's Registration and Emergency Departments, Inpatient and Resuscitation departments and will be informed about the work of the hospital.
