A meeting was held at the Agency with the representatives of Social Security Institution of the Republic of Turkey

On November 7, 2019 the chairman of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) Zaur Aliyev received delegation led by Mehmet Selim Bagli, the chairman of the Social Security Institution of the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting was attended by the employees of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, as well as Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
In his opening remarks, Zaur Aliyev welcomed the guests adding that the relations between the two brotherly countries are growing in all fields including in the sphere of healthcare. He noted that when developing the model of mandatory health insurance, the experience was studied of a number of countries including the Republic of Türkiye. Z. Aliyev informed the delegation members about the preparation works carried out to apply mandatory health insurance throughout the country next year, positive results of mandatory health insurance implemented in the Mingachevir city, Yevlakh and Aghdash regions as a pilot project.


Mehmet Selim Bagli in his turn expressed appreciation for a shown hospitality, adding it is a pleasure visiting brotherly country. He said there is great potential for cooperation between the two institutions in the field of health insurance, expressing readiness to share their experience with Azerbaijan. 
The paragraphs about health insurance of the social protection Agreement signed on July 17, 1998 between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye (hereafter- the Parties) were also discussed at the meeting.  
During the exchange of views, the following issues were raised: preparation process for introduction of mandatory health insurance at the healthcare facilities, financial issues, insurance fees, salary of doctors, professional development of healthcare workers. 


At the end of the meeting considering the introduction of mandatory health insurance next year in the country it was decided that the Agency would submit certain proposals and recommendations to the Social Security Institution of the Republic of Türkiye regarding receiving medical aid by citizens in the country Party to the Agreement, making relevant changes to the Agreement and renegotiate the possibilities for cooperation.
