Awareness-raising activities are conducted in the regions regarding the implementation of mandatory health insurance

Awareness-raising activities have been carried out in November and December of the current year in 20 regions in which mandatory health insurance will be implemented at the initial stage from 2020 year, as well as in 3 administrative areas where pilot projects are being implemented currently. The activities were carried out in Mingachevir and Sheki, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Agsu, Gobustan, Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Oguz, Gabala, Goychay, Ujar, Zardab, Kurdamir, Yevlakh and Agdash regions. The aim of the measures organized jointly by the executive authorities of these regions and the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) was to inform the public about step-by-step implementation of mandatory health insurance in the country and the benefits of the system.

The participants of the event were informed on the purpose of the system of mandatory health insurance, insurance fees, benefit package, procedures of application, etc. Responsible employees of the Agency, as well as representatives of the regional authorities, central hospitals and diagnostic centers made speeches at the event. Officials of executive authorities appreciated the implementation of mandatory health insurance as a continuation of successful health care reforms and expressed their confidence that the system would contribute to the development of healthcare. It was also stated that the purpose of mandatory health insurance is to reduce the financial burden of the population associated with health care costs and to provide access to high-quality medical services.

Representatives of central regional hospitals stated that the medical facilities headed by them were carrying out preparatory works for transition to mandatory health insurance. The work is mainly focused on the establishment of ICT infrastructure in medical facilities, the use of the advantages of ICT, the creation of mandatory health insurance database, as well as the development of knowledge and skills of medical personnel.
In the end, the citizens' questions were answered in detail. Awareness-raising activities in this area are planned to be carried out in other regions of the country as well.
