Children were examined in Lankaran by qualified doctors invited from Baku
On May 10 and 11, a medical examination was conducted for children under 18 years old within the scope of mandatory health insurance in the Lankaran Regional Central Hospital (Lankaran RCH). The main purpose of the medical screening was to protect children's health, ensure their physical development, and prevent disabilities and diseases by detecting health-related problems at an early stage.
The medical examinations were carried out under the project known as “Supporting the health sector," which was implemented between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and the Representative Office of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Azerbaijan, with the organization of the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) and with the financial support of the KOICA Azerbaijani Alumni Association.
At the Republican Clinical Hospital (RCH) named after the Academician M. A. Mirgasimov, children were examined by pediatricians, pediatricians-gastroenterologists, pediatricians-cardiologists, and radiologists who received specialist training in the field of pediatrics in the Republic of Turkiye.
150 children from the Lerik and Astara regions, most of them from the town of Lankaran, underwent the examination. After functional diagnostics, four people were sent to the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital for inpatient treatment with confirmed viral fever diagnosis by qualified doctors. Heart defects were detected in five children during the cardiological examination. Two of them were invited to Baku for additional examinations to determine whether there was an indication for surgery; three people with mild heart defects were advised to stay under regular medical supervision. Additionally, a two-month-old baby diagnosed with inguinal hernia was taken for surgery, and two children were recommended to be examined by an otorhinolaryngologist and a neurologist.
In addition, prescriptions were written for about 50 children in need of medical treatment. Parents were given important advice for the healthy development of children, and the importance of preventive measures were explained in terms of eliminating the complications of diseases.
Note: Two of the doctors who took part in the examination were employed in the RCH as part of the 2022-2023 Program for Eliminating the Shortage of Qualified Personnel in Health Facilities implemented by the Agency.
