During August of 2021 year more than 1 000 000 medical services were provided to the population of 58 cities and regions

According to the preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health facilities where mandatory health insurance has been introduced, in August of current year, 1 477 981 medical services were provided to 388 969 people in 58 cities and regions. 636 930 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their structural units and treatment and diagnostic centers during this period. Based on the inquiries 1 299 760 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 178 221 on an inpatient basis.

We hereby present the following statistics on the medical services provided to the population of those regions during August of current year:

The top ten cities and regions according to the number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people: Mingachevir city (475), Shirvan city (211), Yevlakh (197), Agdash (194), Gabala (192), Goygol (186), Beylagan (181), Gakh (169), Khachmaz (165), Ujar (163).

The top ten health facilities providing the most services: Mingachevir City Central Hospital (135071), Ganja United City Hospital (110 851), regional central hospitals of Yevlakh (74776), Khachmaz (74 735), Guba (54 458), Sheki (54 240), Agdash (53 416), Barda (42163), Goychay (37 689) and Gusar (37 534).

The top ten health facilities providing the most outpatient services: Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Ganja United City Hospital, Regional Central Hospitals of Yevlakh, Khachmaz, Sheki, Guba, Barda, Agdash, Ismayilli and Goychay.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services: Ganja United City Hospital, Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Regional Central Hospitals of Agdash, Guba, Khachmaz, Gusar, Sheki, Shirvan city Central Hospital, Regional Central Hospitals of Yevlakh and Salyan.

The majority of inquiries received by medical facilities of 58 cities and regions during last month were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory system diseases, endocrine system, metabolic and nutritional disorders, urogenital problems, digestive problems, problems of obstetrics and gynecology, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of connective tissue, traumas and poisoning, also diseases of the eye and  the auxiliary apparatus of the eye.

According to the number of medical services provided by 11 regional medical divisions (RMDs) during August of 2021 year, the sequence is as follows (detailed information on RMDs is provided in the following link):

Barda-Yevlakh RMD (319 426), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (208 396),  Guba-Khachmaz RMD (208 265), Ganja RMD (174 234), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (106 143), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (105 249), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (101 026), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (98 174), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (59 752), Lankaran RMD (57 191) and Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (40 125). 

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the number of the population registered in 58 administrative territorial units where mandatory health insurance has been  applied is 6 560 500.

It should be noted, that a total 2 165 265 medical services were provided to 594 898 people out of 959 227 inquiries in August of the current year. Upon inquiries  1 797 382 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 367 883 on an inpatient basis. 

According to the reports received by the Agency, during January-August of 2021 year 15 238 referrals were issued to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for inpatient surgical services that can not be provided in state health facilities of the country and requiring special medical equipment and supplies. 6118 of these referrals were on invasive radiology, 2499 on radiology, 1999 on ophthalmology, 1361 on urology, 1222 on cardiovascular surgery, 705 on neurosurgery, 231 on traumatology, 201 on cardiology, and 15 on gynecology. The number of referrals issued on other areas was 887.

It should be noted that 14239 (93%) of the referrals were issued on a scheduled basis, and 999 (7%) on an urgent basis.

According to preliminary estimates, during January-August of 2021 year, 9 664 people were referred to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for operations and services that can not be provided in state health facilities and requiring special medical equipment and supplies. 297 of those persons were children. 3712 people over 18 years of age were provided with invasive radiology (angiography) services. The majority of operations were in cardiovascular surgery (3057), ophthalmology (1347), urology (641), neurosurgery (383), traumatology (279), Ear Nose Throat (137), other surgical operations (55), general surgery (43), obstetrics and gynecology (10). 125 of the patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery were under 18 years of age. It should be noted that, the provision of medical services by contracted health facilities based on referrals and the registration of such services in the electronic register continues.

In January-August this year, 2 812 918 people applied to health facilities and received 13 207 556  medical services. Of these services, 10 734 244 (81%) were provided to persons over 18 years of age, and 2 473 312 (19%) to persons under 18 years of age.
