During May of 2021 year more than 636,000 medical services were provided for the population of Baku and Sumgayit cities and the Absheron district

According to the preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health facilities where mandatory health insurance has been introduced, in May of the current year, 635,939 medical services were provided to the population of Baku and Sumgayit cities and the Absheron district. 349,350 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their operating units and treatment and diagnostic centers during this period. 508,882 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 127,057 on an inpatient basis.

The top ten districts of Baku city according to the number of inquiries received by healthcare facilities per 1000 (thousand) people were: Narimanov (268), Pirallahy (232), Sabunchy (218), Yasamal (202), Khazar (144), Sabail (143), Nasimi (136), Surakhany (124), Binagady (53) and Khatai (58).

The number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people in Sumgayit city was 126 and there were 19 in Absheron district.

The top ten health facilities providing the most services were: Sumgayit Medical Center (87,943), Republican Clinical Hospital (70,530), City Clinical Hospital No 5 (59,131), Clinical Medical Center (41,064), City Clinical Hospital No 3 (37,641), United City Hospital No 6 named after A.D.Malikov (23,383), Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova (22,478), United City Hospital No 26 (16,058), Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology named after Academician J.M.Abdullayev (15,248) and Children Polyclinic No 15 (9,029). 

The top ten health facilities providing the most outpatient services were: Sumgayit Medical Center, City Clinical Hospital No 5, Republican Clinical Hospital, City Clinical Hospital No 3, United City Hospital No 6 named after A.D.Malikov, Clinical Medical Center, Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova, Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology named after Academician J.M.Abdullayev, United City Hospital No 26 and Children Polyclinic No 15.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services were: Clinical Medical Center, Republican Clinical Hospital, City Clinical Hospital No 5, Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova, United City Hospital No 6 named after A.D.Malikov, United City Hospital No 26, City Clinical Hospital No 2 named after M.A.Efendiyev, City Clinical Hospital No 3, Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology named after Academician J.M.Abdullayev. 

541,256 medical services were provided by the Regional Medical Divisions (RMD) of Baku city and 95,921 medical services were provided by Sumgayit RMD during May of 2021 (detailed information on RMDs is provided in the following link). According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the population registered in Baku and Sumgayit cities, including Absheron district was 3,029,900.

It should be noted that a total 539,865 people in the country were provided with medical services in May of the current year. Most of the inquiries received by medical facilities were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), circulatory systems, endocrine system diseases, metabolic and nutritional disorders, urogenital issues, digestive problems, respiratory system diseases, musculoskeletal system diseases, connective tissue diseases, as well as obstetrics and gynecology, traumas, poisoning and nervous system diseases.

From January to May of 2021, 1,637,752 people applied to medical facilities and received 7,158,060 medical services during this period. 6,012,770 services (84%) were provided to patients aged over 18 and 1,145,290 services (16%) were provided to patients aged under 18.
