During October of 2021, more than 897,000 medical services were provided to the population of the regional divisions of Baku and Sumgayit

According to preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health facilities where mandatory health insurance has been introduced, a total of 897,326 medical services were provided to the population of Baku and Sumgayit cities during October of the current year. 199,394 services were provided by the Baku RMD (regional medical division) and 42,464 services were provided by the Sumgayit RMD (detailed information on RMDs can be found in the link). 406,098 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their structural divisions and treatment and diagnostic centers during this period. 670,932 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 226,394 on an inpatient basis.

Here are some statistics on the medical services provided to the population of the above mentioned regional medical divisions in October of the current year:

The top ten districts of Baku city according to the number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people: Yasamal (246), Narimanov (245), Pirallahy (226), Sabail (214), Sabunchy (196), Nasimi (193), Khazar (161), Surakhany (129), Garadagh (80) and Khatai (79).

The number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people in Sumgayit city was 110.

The top ten health facilities providing the most services1: Sumgayit Medical Center (117,743), the Republican Clinical Hospital named after Academician M.A.Mirgasimov (85,242), the Clinical Medical Center (83,765), the City Clinical Hospital No. 5 (75,273), the City Clinical Hospital No. 3 (56,897), the Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova (51,556), the United City Hospital No. 26 (29,680), the United City Hospital No. 6 named after A.D.Malikov (26,099), Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology named after Academician J.M.Abdullayev (18,233) and the Children's Polyclinic No. 15 (17,308).

The top ten health facilities providing the most outpatient services were: Sumgayit Medical Center, the City Clinical Hospital No. 5, the Republican Clinical Hospital named after Academician M.A.Mirgasimov, the Clinical Medical Center, the City Clinical Hospital No. 3, the United City Hospital No 26, the Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova, the United City Hospital No. 6 named after A.D.Malikov, the Children's Polyclinic No. 135 and the Children's Polyclinic No. 13.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services were: the Clinical Medical Center, Sumgayit Medical Center, the Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova, the Republican Clinical Hospital named after Academician M.A.Mirgasimov, the City Clinical Hospital No. 3, the City Clinical Hospital No. 5, the United City Hospital No 26, the United City Hospital No. 6 named after A.D.Malikov, the City Clinical Hospital No. 2 named after M.A. Afandiyev, and the Republican Perinatal Center.

The majority of inquiries received by the medical facilities by the RMDs of Baku and Sumgayit cities were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory system diseases, problems of the endocrine system, metabolic and nutritional disorders, digestive problems, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of connective tissues, urogenital problems, traumas and poisoning, problems of obstetrics and gynecology, and nervous system diseases.

768,886 medical services were provided by the Regional Medical Division (RMD) of Baku City and 128,440 medical services were provided by Sumgayit RMD during October of 2021.

In addition, by October 4th 249 ,221 medical services were provided to 1,025,040 people from 2,040,738 inquiries by the Baku RMD where mandatory health insurance has been introduced since April of the current year, and 720,658 medical services were provided to 193,692 people based on 423,768 inquiries by the Sumgayit RMD.

In August of the current year, 1,797,382 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 367,883 on an inpatient basis.

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the total population registered in Baku and Sumgayit RMDs was 3,047,000.

According to reports received by the Agency, during January-September of 2021, 19,467 referrals were issued to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for inpatient surgical services that could not be provided in state health facilities of the country and required special medical equipment and supplies. 7,402 of these referrals were on invasive radiology, 3,708 on radiology, 2,639 on ophthalmology, 1,759 on urology, 1,397 on cardiovascular surgery, 855 on neurosurgery, 274 on traumatology, 206 on cardiology, and 21 on gynecology. The number of referrals issued relating to other areas was 1,206.

It should be noted that 18,300 (94%) of the referrals were issued on a scheduled basis, and 1,167 (6%) on an urgent basis.

According to preliminary estimates, during January-September of 2021, 14,186 people were referred to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for operations and services that could not be provided in state health facilities and required special medical equipment and supplies. 368 of those persons were children. 5,322 people over 18 years of age were provided with invasive radiology (angiography) services. The majority of operations were in cardiovascular surgery (4,304), ophthalmology (2,341), urology (964), neurosurgery (577), traumatology (338), ear nose throat (155), other surgical operations (105), general surgery (60), obstetrics and gynecology (20). 166 of the patients were under 18 years of age. It should be noted that, the provision of medical services by contracted health facilities on the basis of referrals and the registration of such services in the electronic register continues.

It should be noted that a total 2,306,645 medical services were provided to 602,186 people relating to 1,005,381 inquiries in October of the current year, of these, 1,897,240 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 409,405 on an inpatient basis.

In January-October of this year, 3,495,907 people applied to health facilities and received 18,100,421 medical services. Of these services, 14,157,075 (78%), were provided to persons over 18 years of age, and 3,943,346 (22%), to persons under 18 years of age.
