Exchange of experience in the sphere of arrangement of healthcare and application of mandatory health insurance took place between Azerbaijan and Israel

On September 16, 2019, at the invitation of the Director of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, prof. Ze’ev Rotstein, the Head of the International Relations Department of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Soltan Mammadov and the head of the Department for Regional Centers of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance Shukur Eyvazov and the executive director of the Thalassemia Center Valeh Huseynov visited Israel. The purpose of the visit was to exchange experience in the sphere of healthcare and the application of mandatory health insurance.

As part of the visit the delegation held a meeting at the Ein Kerem hospital of the Hadassah University. In the course of meeting, director of the Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem gave general information about the activities of the medical center. Following the speech, professors of the departments and units of hematology, bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy, thalassemia, anesthesiology, intensive care, heart disease reported about the latest innovations and practices in their fields. After interactive meetings, the delegation of our country got visually acquainted with the departments of oncology, hematology, cardiology, bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy, as well as with the operation unit of the Hadassah medical center and held an exchange of views with specialized professors.

In conclusion, there were held discussions with representatives of Kupat Holim Halit (one of the largest institutions in Israel specialized in the provision of medical services) about the system of mandatory health insurance. In his turn, the representative of the Agency Shukur Eyvazov gave comprehensive information about mandatory health insurance that will be applied in the country from January 1, 2020 and the positive results of mandatory health insurance carried out as a pilot project in the Mingechevir city, Yevlakh and Agdash regions.
