Executive Director of the National Center for Hematology and Transfusion has been appointed

Ramin Bayramli, Chairman of the Board of Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), has agreed with the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance and signed an order to appoint Valeh Huseynov the Executive Director of the National Hematology and Transfusion Center.

V. Huseynov graduated from the pediatric faculty of the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) in 1998. He began his career in 1999 as a Junior Research Fellow at the Republican Oncology and Hematology Center. In 2000, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Studies, named after B. A. Eyvazov, and as a hematologist at the Central Clinical Hospital in 2001. In 2003, he was Head of the Hematology and Oncology Department of the Hospital and head of the blood bank. Since 2009, he has been the Head of the Therapeutic Center of the same hospital and from 2015 to 2017 was the Head of the Hematology Department of AMU Educational Therapeutic Clinic. Prior to his appointment, he served as a director of the Thalassemia Center. V. Huseynov is the author of numerous scientific articles.

On December 23, 2019, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree on the establishment of the National Hematology and Transfusion Studies Center by merger of the Thalassemia Center and the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Studies, named after B. A. Eyvazov, in order to raise the efficiency and ensure the systematization of government activities in the field of blood, blood components donation, and blood services in the country. The merger will also help meet the population's demand for blood and blood components and also apply international standards in delivery, processing, storage, and distribution of blood and blood components.
