From next year, everyone will have a family doctor

In 2021, mandatory health insurance will be implemented throughout the country. With the introduction of mandatory health insurance, the insured will be able to benefit from the services of a family doctor. A family doctor (field doctor-therapist, field doctor-pediatrician) provides primary health care to the insured.

With the exception of emergency and urgent medical care, a citizen should first consult a family doctor regarding health problems. After examination / treatment, the family doctor will refer you to a qualified doctor if you need qualified medical care.

The process of selecting a family doctor and registration in the state medical facility for primary health care is carried out on the basis of the "Rules of admission of the insured to the state medical facility for primary health care." To choose a family doctor, the insured must apply to the nearest state medical facility (polyclinic / Family Health Center / rural doctor's office) that provides primary health care in the area of residence. He must fill in the application form and submit to the registrar, along with the application, an identity card, as well as a document certifying registration at the address of residence. The insured is registered at the medical facility after choosing a family doctor.

The insured is free to choose a family doctor and replace his/her family doctor without restrictions. However, the insured cannot apply for registration to two or more medical facilities at the same time. A citizen may change the medical facility where he/she is registered at his / her own request after at least 1 (one) calendar year from the date of registration. In case of change of the person's place of residence, he/she must apply to the medical facility in the new area of residence for registration without taking into account the above-mentioned time limit.
