In January 2021, more than 800,000 medical services were provided under the mandatory health insurance scheme

According to the preliminary reports sent to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by the central hospitals and their structural units, as well as treatment and diagnostic centres operating in 59 administrative territories where mandatory health insurance has been applied, in January 2021, 268,087 people applied to the abovementioned medical facilities 448,501 times. A total of 873,019 medical services were provided relating to these requests. 752,776 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 120,243 on an inpatient basis.

Cities and regions included in the top ten according to the number of requests made to the medical facilities per 1,000 (thousand) people in January of this year were Mingachevir (366), Shirvan (183), Zagatala (170), Gakh (140), Agdash (136), Gabala (135), Goychay (129), Oguz (126), Agsu (124) and Khachmaz (121) districts.

The top ten health facilities providing the most services were: Mingachevir Central Hospital (97,814), Khachmaz Central Hospital (50,605), Ganja United City Hospital (40,844), Zagatala (37,154), Agdash (34,797), Sheki (33,945), Goychay (33,931), Gusar (27,256), Guba (25,593) and Ismayilli (24,391) district Central Hospitals.

The top ten health facilities providing the most outpatient services were: Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Khachmaz Central Hospital, Ganja United City Hospital, Zagatala, Sheki, Goychay, Agdash, Ismayilli, Ujar and Guba Central Hospitals.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services were: Mingachevir Central Hospital, Khachmaz, Agdash, Gobustan, Gusar Central Hospitals, Ganja United City Hospital, Guba, Goychay, Zagatala and Barda Central Hospitals.

The majority of appeals made to medical facilities were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), circulatory system, endocrine system diseases, metabolic and nutritional disorders, urogenital, digestive, respiratory system diseases, as well as obstetrics and gynaecology, nervous system, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of connective tissues, diseases of the eye and the additional apparatus of the eye.

It should be noted that to ensure the effective use of resources and staff of medical facilities given under the control of the the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions, the Agency has set up Regional Medical Divisions (RMDs) in the administrative territorial units of the Republic to ensure the access to various types of medical care. At present, the application of mandatory health insurance covers 11 RMDs and the Khizi region, which is under the control of the Sumgayit RMD.

As for the number of inquiries per 1,000 population in January 2011, the sequence is as follows: Barda-Yevlakh RMD (123), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (119), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (104), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (103), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (97), Ganja RMD (62), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (48), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (39), Sumgayit RMD (38), Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (37), Aghdam-Agjabadi RMD (34) and Lankaran RMD (31).

According to the number of medical services provided by RMD, the sequence is as follows: Barda-Yevlakh RMD (166,176), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (165,678), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (138,557), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (87,945), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (83 992), Ganja RMD (66 330), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (46,620), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (34 860), Aghdam-Agjabadi RMD (31,158), Lankaran RMD (27,802), Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (22,720) and Sumgayit RMD (1,181).

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the population registered in the 59 administrative territorial units where mandatory health insurance is applied was 6,577,600 people.

It should be noted that from April 1, 2021, persons officially registered in Baku, Sumgayit, Absheron region will qualify for Benefit Package of mandatory health insurance.
