In the first half of 2021 more than 9,000,000 medical services were provided under the mandatory health insurance

According to the preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health care facilities that apply mandatory health insurance. During the first 6 months of this year, 9,234,527 medical services were provided to 2,074,276 people in the country. During this period 4,411,676 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their operating units and treatment and diagnostic centers. Based on the inquiries 7,795,567 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 1,438,960 on an inpatient basis. Of these services, 7,664,658 (83%) were provided to persons aged over 18, and 1,569,869 (17%) to persons aged under 18.

 We hereby present the following statistics on the medical services provided to the population in 13 RMDs (for detailed information on RMDs press the link) during the first half of current year:

The ranking of RMDs according to the number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people: Barda-Yevlakh RMD (1,022), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (755), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (714), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (680), Ganja RMD (618), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (593), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (408), Baku RMD (378), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (318), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (291), Sumgayit RMD (231), Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (231) and Lankaran RMD (196).

According to the number of services provided: Baku RMD (1,660,607), Barda-Yevlakh RMD (1,563,530), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (1,083,810), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (1,059,133), Ganja RMD (869,711), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (559,510), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (537,409), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (459,617), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (377,355), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (337,082), Lankaran RMD (261,184), Sumgayit RMD (259,582) and Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (205,997).

According to the number of outpatient services provided: Barda-Yevlakh RMD (1,338,133), Baku RMD (1,310,866), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (992,210), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (861,087), Ganja RMD (680,467), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (487,672), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (469,972), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (418,957), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (352,107), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (275,157), Lankaran RMD (230,948), Sumgayit RMD (207,781) and Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (170,210).

According to the number of inpatient services provided: Baku RMD (349,741), Barda-Yevlakh RMD (225,397), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (198,046), Ganja RMD (189,244), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (91,600), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (71,838), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (67,437), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (61,925), Sumgayit RMD (51,801), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (40,660), Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (35,787), Lankaran RMD (30,236) and Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (25,248).

The majority of inquiries received by medical facilities in the country were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), cardiovascular system, endocrine system diseases, metabolic and nutritional disorders, urogenital issues, digestive issues, respiratory system diseases, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of connective tissue, diseases of the eye and the auxiliary apparatus of the eye as well as problems of obstetrics and gynecology, and nervous system diseases.

According to the reports received by the Agency, during January-June of 2021, 8,650 referrals were issued to contracted medical facilities for inpatient surgical services, which could not be carried out in state health facilities, as well as requiring special medical equipment and supplies. Of these referrals, 3,882 were related to invasive cardiology, 1,192 to ophthalmology, 817 to cardiovascular surgery, 728 to urology, 706 to radiology, 472 to neurosurgery, 187 to cardiology, 143 to traumatology, and 4 were related to gynecology. The number of referrals on other areas was 519.

It should be stated, that 7,976 (92%) of referrals were registered on a scheduled basis, and 674 (8%) on an urgent basis.

According to preliminary estimates, during the first 6 months of 2021, 7,386 people were sent to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for operations that could not be carried out in state health facilities, as well as operations requiring special medical equipment and supplies. 260 of those persons were children. A majority of operations were accounted for cardiovascular surgery (2,353), ophthalmology (904), urology (437), neurosurgery (327), traumatology (279), ear-nose-throat (123), general surgery (37), other surgical operations (14), obstetrics and gynecology (8). 101 of the patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery were aged under 18 years . At the same time invasive radiology (angiography) services were provided to 2,904 people. It should be noted that medical facilities continue with the registration and processing of information in the electronic register regarding surgical operations.

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the number of the population registered in administrative territorial units where mandatory health insurance has been in effect was 9,607,500.
