Information of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance

From time to time, funds are collected from individuals through various news portals and social media to address health-related issues. In some instances, citizens seek financial support to address their health concerns instead of utilizing the state's healthcare facilities, which offer free medical services under mandatory health insurance.

Regrettably, certain media organizations disseminate unverified information without investigating the issue and informing citizens about their entitlement to avail themselves of medical services. The publication of such misinformation online can sow confusion in society and undermine trust in the work of relevant institutions.

We kindly urge members of the media and our fellow citizens to contact the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance whenever they encounter problems. Such inquiries can be directed through the Agency's "1542" call center, the "Request a callback" and "Electronic Contact" sections on the Agency's official website, or via email at  info@its.gov.az.

Rest assured that every request is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with the law. If the required medical service is covered by the Benefit Package, it is provided free of charge.

It is worth noting that the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance has, on multiple occasions, reached out to individuals collecting funds to investigate their circumstances. These individuals were informed that the necessary medical services are available at no cost through the mandatory health insurance and were encouraged to access these services at the relevant medical facilities. In numerous instances, citizens unreasonably declined the offered medical assistance.

The Benefit Package of mandatory health insurance covers 3,315 medical services free of charge. This encompasses inpatient treatment for widespread diseases with a high risk of disability and mortality. These services include bone marrow, kidney, and liver transplants, heart valve replacement and restoration, surgeries for congenital heart defects, minimally invasive endovascular procedures, brain and meninges surgeries, benign brain tumor removal, coxofemoral and knee endoprosthesis, total replacement of elbow and shoulder joints, among others.

To access medical services at no cost under mandatory health insurance, citizens can present their ID card at any state medical facility under the supervision of the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) and the 9 scientific research institutes of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
