Last year 47% of the population benefited from mandatory health insurance

According to the reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance by health facilities where mandatory health insurance was introduced during 2022, 4.5 million people (47% of the population) benefited from medical services under mandatory health insurance. The number of services provided by state medical facilities to the population was 44,136,303, a 92% increase compared to 2021. Last year, medical facilities received 17,836,873 requests; 84% of medical services were provided under outpatient conditions and 16% under inpatient conditions.

In 2022 the majority of these medical services were provided by the Medical Center of Sumgayit city. The top five state medical facilities providing the most medical services were Ganja City United Hospital, the Republican Clinical Hospital named after academician M.A.Mirgasimov, Narimanov District Medical Center and Clinical Medical Center. The requests were mostly related to general medical examination, diseases of the endocrine system, and blood circulation, as well as respiratory and digestive systems.

In 2022, 354,260 operations and procedures were performed in state medical facilities, which is twice as many as those performed in 2021. It should be noted that the most common surgical operations performed in state health facilities are digestive, gynecological, urological, eye, and cardiovascular operations and procedures.

Medical services that cannot be provided in state medical facilities under the health insurance are provided by contracted health facilities. As compared to the end of 2021, in 2022, the number of medical facilities contracted by the Agency increased from 20 to 111. Currently, the number of contracted medical facilities is 122.

As for the operations that cannot be performed in state medical facilities, as well as the operations that require special medical equipment and provision, compared to 2021, this figure increased by four times last year to 111,301. Operations on ophthalmology (37,006), cardiovascular surgery (30,150) and invasive radiological services (26,633) predominate among these services.

The Agency is sensitive to issues such as providing access to medical services for participants of the Patriotic War and family members of martyrs, promptly responding to their requests, and investigating their complaints. They have priority when using emergency medical services under mandatory health insurance. Last year, 199,162 medical services were provided to 12,730 people under the Benefits Package of mandatory health insurance.

As for the supply base, affecting the quality of medical services, last year the Agency purchased 1,768 pieces of equipment, devices, instruments and supplies of 108 types for conducting instrumental examinations and performing complex surgical procedures. The extent of modern medical equipment is being increased to protect the health of citizens, provide timely examination and treatment for them and establish accurate diagnoses of diseases.
