Medical examinations have been conducted for lonely elderly persons

The State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and the Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology named after academician J. M. Abdullayev, organized an on-site medical examination at the Social Services Facility for the elderly persons, overseen by the Social Services Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, located in Bilgah settlement of the Sabunchu district.

The main purpose of the medical examinations conducted on occasion of the International Day of the Older Persons observed on October 1 – was to detect diseases at an early stage and prevent complications in elderly residents of the facility. During the two-day campaign, 75 people were examined covered by the Benefit Package of the mandatory health insurance.

Laboratory tests were conducted to assess the general condition of the elderly residents. Blood samples were taken and sent for laboratory examination to assess the general and biochemical indicators of blood, as well as the levels of thyroid hormones and Vitamin D.

As part of the campaign, diagnostic examinations were carried out by qualified doctors made up of cardiologists, endocrinologists, neurologists, surgeons, and traumatologists. Thirty-six people underwent echocardiography, and 50 underwent electrocardiogram examinations.

Similar measures will be continued by the Agency for protecting the health of people in socially vulnerable population groups.
