More than 1 million medical services were provided under the mandatory health insurance scheme during March of 2021

According to the preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by the central hospitals and their structural units, as well as Medical Diagnostic Centers operating in 59 administrative territories, where mandatory health insurance is applied, a total of 337,807 people applied to these health facilities with 535,714 separate inquiries during March 2021. 1,180,643 medical services were provided for these inquiries. 1,002,940 medical services were provided as outpatient services and 177,703 as inpatient services. 

The top ten cities and regions with the highest number of inquiries received by health facilities per 1000 (thousand) people during March of the current year were: Mingachevir city (402), Shirvan city (200), Yevlakh (165), Zagatala (176), Agdash (160), Gabala (158), Oguz (150), Agstafa (145) regions, Ganja city (137) and Goychay (136) region. The top ten medical facilities providing the most services were: Mingachevir City Central Hospital (118,449), Ganja United City Hospital (91,800), Khachmaz (59,685), Yevlakh  (56,156), Agdash (42,782), Sheki (37,790), Guba (37,440), Zagatala (34,954), Goychay (34,699) and Gusar (31,778) Regional Central Hospitals. 

The top ten medical facilities providing the most outpatient services were: Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Ganja United City Hospital, Yevlakh, Khachmaz, Agdash, Sheki, Zagatala, Goychay, Guba and Beylagan Regional Central Hospitals.

The top ten medical facilities providing the most inpatient services were: Ganja United City Hospital, Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Khachmaz, Guba, Gusar, Agdash, Barda Regional Central Hospitals, Shirvan city Central Hospital, Yevlakh and Goychay Regional Central Hospitals.

The majority of the inquiries were related to general medical examinations (including the examination of conscripts), as well as disorders of the circulatory system, endocrine diseases, metabolic diseases and nutritional disorders, diseases of the digestive system, urogenital systems, respiratory systems, musculoskeletal systems and connecting tissues, diseases of the eye and auxiliary eye systems, nervous systems, and problems related to obstetrics & gynecology. 

It should be noted, that in order to ensure the efficient use of resources and staff of medical facilities subordinated to the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions, to optimize their activities and ensure access for the population to various types of medical care, Regional Medical Divisions (RMDs) were established by the Agency within the administrative units of the country. At present, the implementation of mandatory health insurance covers 11 RMDs and the Khizi region, which is controlled by Sumgayit RMD. 

The number of medical services provided by the RMDs in March 2021 is as follows: Barda-Yevlakh RMD (255,100), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (180,799), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (166,183), Ganja RMD (144,161), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (94,943), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (80,493), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (73,895), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (57,597), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (54,480), Lankaran RMD (40,097), Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (31,601) and Sumgayit RMD (1,294)

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the number of people registered in the 59 administrative territorial units where mandatory health insurance has been introduced, is 6,577,600. In total, in the first quarter of 2021, 711,498 people applied to health facilities with a total of 1,544,679 inquiries and a total of 3,268,080 medical services were carried out.

It should be noted that persons registered in Baku and Sumgayit cities and Absheron district have now started to receive the medical services included in the Benefit Package of mandatory health insurance from April 1, 2021.
