President Ilham Aliyev became familiar with newly purchased ambulances

On December 9, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev became more familiar with the modern ambulance vehicles purchased by the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency).

Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Agency, explained that the Agency focuses on providing ambulance vehicles for newly established medical centers and facilities, including hospitals built in our liberated territories, in response to the growing demand.

AZERTAC reports that, since 2020, the Agency has purchased a total of 249 Fiat Doblo, 131 Mercedes, and 34 Ford Transit ambulance vehicles, as well as Mercedes Vito ambulance vehicles with two special compensating gears (4x4) that ensure comfortable and safe transportation of the emergency medical team in mountainous terrain and off-road conditions. These vehicles were used for the evacuation of the wounded in difficult and off-road conditions during the 44-day Patriotic War.

It was reported that health facilities and emergency and urgent medical aid stations that are operating in Baku and other cities and regions of the country will be supplied with a total of 1,487 ambulances; so far, medical facilities have been provided with 909 medical aid vehicles.

There are total of 65 Mercedes-Benz ambulances, 37 of which have a simple compensating gear, while seven have two special compensating gears. Twenty are resuscitation ambulances and one has a perinatal isolette. The cars are equipped with a wide range of medicines and medical equipment, which allows for the start of treatment for patients during transportation. Thus, the structure of the cars allows for the transportation of patients in any condition.

After the distribution of the newly purchased ambulance cars, the total number of ambulances in use across the country will be 974.
