Reconstruction works have been carried out in the Ganja City United Hospital

Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, Nigar Bayramova, Deputy Chairman of the Board, and Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), visited the medical facilities attached to the Ganja City United Hospital.

During the visit, Niyazi Bayramov, the head of the Ganja City Administration, Zaur Aliyev, and Vugar Gurbanov attended the opening of the newly established Department of Neurology and Therapy at the Hospital named after Abbas Sahhat and the Emergency Aid and Polyclinic Departments at the Children's Hospital. They also became familiar with the reconstruction works carried out in the departments of emergency care, resuscitation, and surgery, as well as in the laboratory and operation block of the hospital named after Academician Z. Mammadov.

According to Zaur Aliyev, the introduced innovations will improve citizens' access to medical services: "The introduction of mandatory health insurance, which is the basis of health reform, is of particular importance in adapting medical services to current requirements and improving their quality. In addition, making medical services accessible to everyone is one of the main goals of the Agency. It is no coincidence that these departments were also established with the support of the Agency. Provision of Computer Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MRI) equipment for accurate diagnoses will help to increase the range and quality of medical services. The diagnosis and treatment of nervous system diseases is covered under the Benefit Package. For example, the treatment of acute and chronic cerebral circulation disorders, arterial hypertension, and other diseases is covered within the Benefit Package.”

According to Vugar Gurbanov, the new capabilities of the Ganja City United Hospital will allow for the efficient organization of medical services to protect the health of the population: "Constant work is being done to provide citizens with quality medical services. Equipping the newly created Department of Neurology with modern medical equipment and the recruitment of experienced neurologists is one of the steps taken. These conditions created in the hospital will allow the residents of Ganja to receive medical services without travelling long distances, saving them time."

Ilkin Ismayilov, Director of the Ganja City United Hospital discussed the work done in the health facility after the introduction of mandatory health insurance: "After the introduction of mandatory health insurance, the Ganja Health Department operates as the Ganja City United Hospital, and several hospitals operate under it. During this period, new departments were created in hospitals to ensure access to medical services for the population. The Neurology and Therapy Departments each have 100 beds, the reconstructed Surgery Department has 70 beds, and the Intensive Care Department has 10 beds.

Ilkin Ismayilov said that, with the introduction of insurance, the number of doctor visits made has increased. On average, 3,000 citizens apply to this healthcare facility per day, and the number of services provided to them varies between 9,000 and 12,000: "In the past year, more than 2,500,000 services were provided to more than 275,000 patients, of which 2,117,377 were outpatient services and 392,283 were stationary services. In the first six months of the current year, more than 1,400,000 medical services were provided to more than 178,000 patients. The most frequently performed operations are urological, gynecological, and ophthalmological operations. In 2022-2023, more than 22,000 surgical operations were performed."
