The Division of Surgery opened at Nizami Medical Center

Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency), and Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), attended the opening ceremony of the Division of Surgery of Nizami Medical Center (Center).

Eldar Abbasov, Director of the Center, informed attendees about the works carried out at the health facility after the introduction of mandatory health insurance: "The introduction of mandatory health insurance is aimed at increasing the range and quality of services provided to citizens. The Division of Surgery beginning service at the Center will allow citizens to use surgical services under the Benefit Package. The 40-bed Division of Surgery is equipped with medical equipment that meets latest standards."

It was noted that the number of doctor visits has increased as a result of the introduction of mandatory health insurance and the ensured accessibility of the services. Last year, more than 9,000 patients were provided with more than 48,000 medical services; 23,694 of them were outpatient services, and 24,750 were inpatient. Over the current year, more than 18,000 patients were provided with more than 145,000 medical services.

According to Zaur Aliyev, the accessibility of medical services to everyone is one of the priorities of the Agency: "The innovations introduced in health facilities are aimed at preventing citizens' health problems. For this reason, the Agency has accelerated capacity-building measures and measures aimed at improving supply bases in hospitals. It is no coincidence that the Division of Surgery opened at the Center was also created with the support of the Agency. The establishment of this division and its supply with modern equipment – including portable X-ray, anesthesia device, defibrillator, cardio monitor, and coagulator – will help to increase the range and quality of medical services. Citizens will be able to use services related to the following fields in the Nizami Medical Center: general surgery, neurosurgery, traumatology, urology, proctology, and otolaryngology. It should be noted that, last year, more than 354,000 operations and procedures were performed in state medical facilities.”

According to Vugar Gurbanov, previously, citizens who applied to the Nizami Medical Center for surgical operations were referred to other health facilities: "Our goal is to create favorable conditions in health facilities for the population and adapt the operations of medical facilities to the requirements of mandatory health insurance system. For this reason, permanent work is being done to provide citizens with high quality medical services while saving their time. The innovations introduced in the hospital will ensure the effectiveness of medical services to protect the health of the population.”

Then, the visitors became familiar with the general conditions in the health facility.
