The joint statement of the Ministry of Health, State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance and TABIB

Vaccination, as it is known, - is the most effective way to prevent complications from new and rapidly spreading variants of the COVID-19.

Currently the nationwide vaccination process is being carried out in accordance with “Vaccination Strategy against COVID-19 in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2021-2022 years”. Due to active participation of population in vaccination, the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan remained stable.

As of January 25, 2022, a total of 11 845 510 vaccine doses had been administered across the country, 1 895 975 of them are booster doses.

A booster dose (third dose) is an extra administration of a vaccine after an earlier dose. Therefore, depending on the organism, vaccine-induced immunity against infection may reduce 5 months after vaccination with 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. A booster dose is recommended to increase the body's immunity to coronavirus infection.

It should be noted that those who receive the full two-dose course of any COVID-19 vaccines used in Azerbaijan are issued a "Vaccination Certificate". “Vaccination Certificate" is valid for 6 months.  After the expiration of this period, the validity of the "Vaccine Certificate" is extended indefinitely when receiving first in a two-dose series intended by vaccine manufacturer.

Health authorities call on our citizens to get a booster dose 5 months after second dose or recovery from COVID-19, to protect from a new spreading variant of virus.

It should be noted that according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 419 dated December 30, 2021, the "Vaccination Certificate", which expires six months after receiving the second dose of the vaccine, will no longer be valid as of February 15.
