The joint statement of the Ministry of Health, State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance and TABIB

In recent days, official health agencies have received reports that some private laboratories offer citizens to take two tests, who apply to them for the COVID-19 tests.

Private laboratory staff say that the first test is taken to determine whether a citizen is infected with COVID-19, while the second test is important for detection of SARS-CoV-2 21K "Omicron" variant. As a result, the applicant makes a payment for an additional test.

It should be noted that the treatment options are the same regardless of what variant has caused a COVID-19 infection. The proposed second test has no diagnostic or clinical significance for the treatment to be prescribed.

The symptoms of the new strain are often like those of an acute respiratory infection and mainly affect the upper respiratory tract. If you have these symptoms, you should first consult the local polyclinic, primary care physician (pediatrician, doctor-therapist).

Research shows that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent complications that can be caused by new and rapidly spreading variants of the virus. Therefore, to protect against new variant of infection, health authorities call on our citizens to get a booster dose 5 months after the second dose of vaccine or recovery from COVID-19 disease.

It should be noted that according to the relevant Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the "Vaccination Certificate" of the persons who received the second dose of the vaccine for more than 6 months will not be considered valid from February 15.
