Under the "Protocol on provision of educational services and scientific cooperation" signed between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and Ankara University, training titled "Management of Hospitals" was organized at Ankara University from May 29 to June 9 of this year. The purpose of the training was to develop the knowledge and skills of the administrative staff of hospitals where mandatory health insurance is introduced and to align the current management mechanism of health facilities with international practice.

The training organized by Ankara University and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) was attended by the employees of the Agency and TABIB, as well as directors and deputy directors of 12 state health facilities (the Masalli, Absheron, Tartar, Goygol, Zagatala, Salyan, and Barda regional central hospitals, the Ganja City United Hospital, as well as Surakhani and Sabunchu medical centers, Yeni Klinika, Republican Clinical Hospital).

Topics such as health economics and economic evaluation, project assessment, and international health policy and reforms were taught in the training conducted by the professors of the Department of Health Management of the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

The trainers also informed the trainees about Turkiye’s experience in financial analysis, health information systems management, medical accounting, decision-making methods, leadership and management skills, human resource management, quality management and accreditation, and patient and staff safety.

In addition, the trainees participated in field trips to  Bilkent City Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital of Ankara University Medical Faculty, and Ankara Etlik City Hospital for a  firsthand observation of the topics taught. Training participants were given detailed information about the operation of hospitals.

It should be noted that the management staff of 15 state medical facilities participated in a similar training held at Ankara University last year.
