The statement of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance jointly with relevant state bodies conducted an immediate investigation based on information about Georgian citizen who travelled to Tbilisi from Islamic Republic of Iran transiting Azerbaijan on February 25 and was tested positive for COVID-19.

During the investigation the footage showing how he passes customs control was thoroughly analyzed. The investigation found that at the time of being at Astara customs checkpoint his body temperature was normal. He did not have any symptoms of disease for suspicion.
It is possible that as it’s common to the nature of the disease, the symptoms appeared within next 10-12 hours while he was travelling from Astara customs checkpoint to Georgian border.

The incubation period of disease is up to 12 days and the symptoms may not appear within this period. All the measures are taken in regard with this fact. All persons who were in contact with Georgian citizens including customs and border officers, health workers have been identified and they are under medical supervision.
