Training on management of non-communicable diseases for trainees completed

The training on management of non-communicable diseases in Primary Health Care (PHC), jointly organized by the World Health Organization and State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance has completed today. In the training, 23 doctors and 23 nurses participated from 23 regions, where mandatory health insurance was applied at the first stage.

The main goal of the 3-day training was to increase the knowledge and skills of health care providers in regards to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of non-communicable diseases, especially hypertension and diabetes. Training was conducted by the specialists from the Azerbaijan State Postgraduate Medical Institute named after Aziz Aliyev, Azerbaijan Medical University and the Republic of Turkey. The trainings were held in December 2019 on the same topic for health professionals working at the PHC in Sumgayit and Siyazan showed that there is a big need to enhance the knowledge and skills in this field. As a result, it was decided to be continued the trainings in the future.This training will help doctors and nurses to develop themselves as trainers, and consequently, they will be able to train other healthcare workers at the Family Medical Center. Training is one of the key components of the WHO primary health care demonstration project. Based on international experience, PHC is an effective and important element in the implementation of mandatory health insurance.
