Trainings held on the topic “Infant and young child feeding”

As part of Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) another training course was held on June 18-21, 2019 on the topic “Infant and young child feeding” for healthcare workers employed in the pilot regions (Mingachevir city, Yevlakh and Agdash districts)

The aim of the training was to improve the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of doctors on the feeding of infants and young children, promote breastfeeding, explain them the guidelines on proper supplementing with formula in addition to breastfeeding.

The participants were informed about international achievements in order to improve their knowledge and skills about the importance of breastfeeding both for infants and mothers and finding particular solutions to challenges related with feeding.

20 pediatricians, family doctors and neonatologists participated in four-day training.

It should be noted that the first training was held on March 6-7 and April 8-9, 2019 on the topic of “Training for users of guidelines on Monitoring of Child Development”. The aim of this training was to increase the level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of doctors, providing information about the regulations on the use of modern, special tools for child growth assessment, development delay, assessment of children with disabilities and referring them to the relevant specialists. The training was attended by 67 doctors-neonatologists and pediatricians. The training held on the topic of “Infant and young child feeding” on May 13-17, 2019 was attended by 21 pediatricians, family doctors and neonatologists.
