X-ray examinations will be carried out with digital equipment under the mandatory health insurance

The State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) purchased 40 pieces of X-ray diagnostic equipment for conducting instrumental examinations.

Aynura Ahmadova, head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department of the Agency, said that the new equipment will allow its users to carry out high-quality diagnostics of various types of traumas, injuries, and diseases:

"Improving the supply base of medical facilities is one of the important factors that ensures the timely provision of medical services to the population under the mandatory health insurance and enables the improvement of the quality of services. During this year, there are plans to provide doctors with seven units of X-ray equipment (C-arm X-ray machine) for surgery rooms to be used in orthopedic, urological, gastroentological, and traumatological operations, as well as other complex surgical procedures. Two digital mammography equipment were also purchased, which allow for the detection of breast diseases at an early stage. In addition, 24 stationary and portable X-ray machines and six fluoroscopic equipment will be distributed to hospitals."

It should be noted that, unlike traditional X-ray machines, digital X-ray equipment allows for the retrieval of high-quality images during the examination. If necessary, images can be enlarged, which allows doctors to see even the smallest details and make assessments with high precision. This minimizes repeated examinations. Portable X-ray devices are mainly intended for the examination of patients receiving intensive care and inpatient treatment, as well as for patients who cannot be taken to the X-ray room.

One bone densitometer was purchased. Bone mineral density is measured with this device in an examination called densitometry. This important examination method used in the field of traumatology and orthopedics is included in the Benefit Package. It is mainly used in the diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis, which are accompanied by a high risk of pathological bone fractures.

It should be noted that, in 2022, the Agency purchased a total of 1,768 pieces of equipment, devices, tools, and supplies of 108 types. These will be used to provide medical services in both outpatient settings and inpatient settings in state health facilities.

The gradual supply of state health facilities with modern diagnostic equipment will ensure access to medical services. Newly purchased equipment will allow citizens to undergo instrumental examinations in state health facilities near their places of residence under mandatory health insurance. It should be noted that, due to the lack of necessary equipment for conducting instrumental examinations in some health facilities, these examinations are provided in other health facilities upon referral.

It is planned to hand over the equipment in 2023 in accordance with the needs of the state health facilities supervised by the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB).
