During July of 2021, more than 620 000 medical services were provided to the population of the regional divisions of Baku and Sumgayit cities

According to the preliminary reports submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health facilities where mandatory health insurance is in effect, a total of 623 560 medical services were provided to the population of Baku and Sumgayit cities during July of current year. 169 449 services were provided across Baku RMD (regional medical division) and 33 361 services were provided across Sumgayit RMD (detailed information on RMD can be found in the link). 312 103 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their structural units and treatment and diagnostic centers during this period. 460 591 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 162 969 on an inpatient basis.Here are some statistics on the medical services provided to the population of the abovementioned regional divisions in July of current year:

The top ten districts of Baku city according to the number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people: Narimanov (197), Yasamal (183), Sabunchy (191), Pirallahy (142), Khazar (134), Nasimi (139), Sabail (113), Surakhany (94), Khatai (55) and Garadagh (51).

The numer of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people in Sumgayit city was 83.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services: Clinical Medical Center, Republican Clinical Hospital named after Academician M.A.Mirgasimov, Sumgayit Medical Center, Scientific-Research Institute of Pediatrics named after K.Farajova, City Clinical Hospital No. 3, City Clinical Hospital No. 5, United City Hospital No. 6 named after A.D.Malikov, United City Hospital No 26, City Clinical Hospital No. 2 named after M.A.Efendiyev and Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics.

The majority of inquiries received by the medical facilities across RMDs of Baku and Sumgayit cities were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), diseases of the circulatory system, endocrine system, metabolic and nutritional disorders, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of connective tissue, digestive problems, respiratory system diseases, problems of obstetrics and gynecology, traumas and poisoning, nervous system diseases, urogenital problems.

529 113 medical services were provided by the Regional Medical Division (RMD) of Baku city and 94447 medical services were provided by Sumgayit RMD during July of 2021.

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the total population registered in Baku and Sumgayit RMDs was 3047000.

It should be noted, that a total 1 807 764 medical services were provided to 522 605 people on 849 104 inquiries in July of the current year. 1 478 769 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 328 995 on an inpatient basis upon inquiries. 

According to preliminary estimates, during January-July of 2021 year, 7 680 people were sent to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for surgical operations that can not be carried out in state health facilities, as well as operations requiring special medical equipment and supplies. 262 of those persons were children. The majority of operations were accounted for cardiovascular surgery (2367), ophthalmology (1141), neurosurgery (332), urology (471), traumatology (279), Ear Nose Throat (123), general surgery (37), other surgical operations (14), obstetrics and gynecology (8). 101 of the patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery were under 18 years of age. 2908 people over the age of 18 were provided with invasive radiology (angiography) services. It should be noted that, registration and processing of information on surgical operations in the electronic register by medical facilities continues.

In January-July this year, 2 393 001 people applied to health facilities and received 11042291 medical services. Of these services, 9 054 679 (82%) were provided to persons over 18 years of age, and 1 987 612 (18%) to persons under 18 years of age.
