The Agency to improve medical claims management system

On March 10, 2021 an online seminar was held to discuss the outcomes of the project “Rapid assessment of the existing claims management system in Azerbaijan”. The aim of the project, initiated by the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, was to analyze the current condition of the management system for medical claims associated with mandatory health insurance.

Ruslan Abdullayev, Head of the International Cooperation Division of the Agency, and Hande Harmanjı, the WHO Representative in Azerbaijan, made speeches at the seminar stating that the study of international best practices was important in terms of improving the medical claims management system.

Kristina Kahur, the WHO expert, spoke about the results of the abovementioned project and mentioned the gaps in the medical claims management system. She recommended solutions for the elimination of these gaps.

It should be noted, that as part of the project, which was launched last December, the WHO expert closely worked with the working group organized in the Agency and a report was made on the basis of the written survey and meetings held with the working group. Considering the recommendations of the report, the Agency plans to cooperate with other international partners.
