The delegation led by Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency), is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia from May 15 to 18.

The delegation comprises Ruslan Abdullayev, Head of the International Relations Department; Nargiz Aghayeva, Head of the Medical Services and Pharmaceuticals Department; Aysel Ibayeva, Head of the Legal Department; and Ramil Mukhtarzade, Head of the Strategic Development and Economic Analysis Department.

During the visit, the delegation visited Tashmaydan Park in Belgrade, where they laid flowers at the monument of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, in tribute to his legacy.

The visit, organized at the invitation of Sanja Radojevic Shkodric, Head of the National Medical Insurance Fund of the Republic of Serbia, included discussions on the exchange of experience and opportunities for future cooperation between the Agency and the National Medical Insurance Fund of Serbia. An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a formal framework for cooperation between the two institutions.

The meetings covered various topics, including the medical insurance system in Serbia, healthcare financing, the role of insurance systems in managing medical facilities, and an analysis of Serbia’s experience. Discussions included the development of a sustainable and affordable mandatory health insurance system, the advancement of digital health services, best practices in resource management, and strategies to reduce out-of-pocket payments.

The delegation also explored the organization of primary healthcare, ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency medical services in state medical facilities in Belgrade.

It is worth noting that to ensure the quality of medical services under mandatory health insurance, the Agency actively collaborates with relevant institutions in foreign countries and international organizations on both bilateral and multilateral levels.
