During October of 2021 more than 1,000,000 medical services were provided to the populations of 58 cities and regions

According to preliminary reports, submitted to the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) by health facilities where mandatory health insurance has been introduced, in October of the current year, 1,409,319 medical services were provided to 371,880 people in 58 cities and regions. 599.283 inquiries were received by the medical facilities, their structural units and treatment and diagnostic centers during this period. 1,226,308 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 183,011 on an inpatient basis.

We hereby present the following statistics on the medical services provided to the population of those regions during October of the current year:

The top ten cities and regions according to the number of inquiries received by medical facilities per 1000 (thousand) people: Mingachevir city (486), Ganja city (214), Yevlakh (189), Beylagan (160), Gabala (159), Balakan (157), Agdash (154), Khachmaz (153), Gakh (152) and Khojavand (152).

The top ten health facilities providing the most services: Ganja United City Hospital (139,243), Mingachevir City Central Hospital (134,606), regional central hospitals of Khachmaz (70,270), Yevlakh (61,285), Guba (61,017), Barda (48,341), Sheki (45,162), Agdash (41,747), Balakan (41,189), and Goychay (38,577).

The top ten health facilities providing the most outpatient services: Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Ganja United City Hospital, Regional Central Hospitals of Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Guba, Barda, Sheki, Balakan, Goychay and Zagatala.

The top ten health facilities providing the most inpatient services: Ganja United City Hospital, Regional Central Hospital of Guba, Mingachevir City Central Hospital, Regional Central Hospitals of Agdash, Khachmaz, Gusar and Sheki, Shirvan City Central Hospital, and the Regional Central Hospitals of Goychay and Barda.

The majority of inquiries received by the medical facilities of the 58 cities and regions during the last month were related to medical examinations (including examinations of conscripts), diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory system diseases, endocrine system issues, metabolic and nutritional disorders, urogenital problems, digestive problems, problems relating to obstetrics and gynecology, musculoskeletal system diseases, diseases of the connective tissues, diseases of the eye and the additional apparatus of the eye, and nervous system diseases.

Based on the number of medical services provided by 11 regional medical divisions (RMDs) during August of 2021 year, the list is as follows (detailed information on RMDs is provided in the following link):

Barda-Yevlakh RMD (292,403), Guba-Khachmaz RMD (199,332), Ganja RMD (197,106), Sheki-Zagatala RMD (194,764), Goychay-Kurdamir RMD (98,205), Agdam-Agjabadi RMD (98,173), Shamkir-Tovuz RMD (96,265), Mountainous Shirvan RMD (82,262), Lankaran RMD (58,739), Imishli-Sabirabad RMD (55,500), and Jalilabad-Salyan RMD (36,570).

According to the official information as of 01.01.2020, the population registered in the 58 administrative territorial units where mandatory health insurance has been applied was 6,560,500.

It should be noted that a total 2,306,645 medical services were provided to 602,186 people from a total of 1,005,381 inquiries in October of the current year, of these, 1,897,240 medical services were provided on an outpatient basis and 409,405 on an inpatient basis.

According to the reports received by the Agency, during January-September of 2021, 19,467 referrals were issued to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for inpatient surgical services that could not be provided in state health facilities of the country and required special medical equipment and supplies. 7,402 of these referrals were on invasive radiology, 3,708 on radiology, 2,639 on ophthalmology, 1,759 on urology, 1,397 on cardiovascular surgery, 855 on neurosurgery, 274 on traumatology, 206 on cardiology, and 21 on gynecology. The number of referrals issued relating to other areas was 1,206.

It should be noted that 18,300 (94%) of the referrals were issued on a scheduled basis, and 1,167 (6%) on an urgent basis.

According to preliminary estimates, during January-September of 2021, 14,186 people were referred to medical facilities operating on a contractual basis for operations and services that could not be provided in state health facilities and required special medical equipment and supplies. 368 of those persons were children. 5,322 people over 18 years of age were provided with invasive radiology (angiography) services. The majority of operations were in cardiovascular surgery (4,304), ophthalmology (2,341), urology (964), neurosurgery (577), traumatology (338), ear nose throat (155), other surgical operations (105), general surgery (60), obstetrics and gynecology (20). 166 of the patients were under 18 years of age. It should be noted that the provision of medical services by contracted health facilities on the basis of referrals, and the registration of such services in the electronic register, continues.

During January-October of 2021 year 13,130,542 medical services were provided to 2,380,464 people based on 5,756,549 inquiries in 58 cities and regions. During this period 3,495,907 people applied to health facilities and received 18,100,421 medical services. Of these services, 14,157,075 (78%), were provided to persons over 18 years of age, and 3,943,346 (22%), to persons under 18 years of age.
