The transition plan is being developed to support the application of MHI throughout the country

A consulting firm has been involved to support the compilation of an action plan to accelerate the preparation of mandatory health insurance to the whole country since 2019 and to predict the impediments that may be encountered during the transitional period. For this purpose, funds were allocated according to the 19 July 2018 disposal of the President of Azerbaijan. McKinsey & Company was selected as a consultant for the execution of the Order. The goal is to provide access to health services for the population, to reform the health system effectiveness, and to develop a cross-cutting plan and a roadmap with the State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance and the Ministry of Health for the efficient use of funds allocated to this area.

The company, internationally recognized and respected, operates in 60 countries around the world and has been involved in the implementation of more than 2000 healthcare projects over the past five years. The main activities of the company are the development of strategic plans and financial models for social reform.

McKinsey & Company will take part in the preparation of the strategic road map reflecting the development stages of the system, using the Agency's experience accumulated during the pilot project of mandatory health insurance. The main support of the company is to provide advice on complying with mandatory health insurance on ways to address issues across the country, reform health infrastructure to improve the quality of medical services, as well as establishing a sustainable system, effective management of medical institutions and enhancing efficiency in collecting and spending funds.

The strategic road map will provide a smooth implementation of healthcare reforms, calculation of healthcare costs, reducing the financial burden on the health of the population and the widespread introduction of mandatory health insurance in the country since 2019.
