Primary healthcare is strengthened in areas affected by an emergency

On April 21, 2022, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) Zaur Aliyev held a meeting with Ariane Bauer, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Azerbaijan.

The meeting was attended by Nassarullah Dar, Health Program Manager, Sunay Mustafayeva, Health Field Officer, Ruslan Abdullayev, Head of International Relations Department and Nigar Rustamova, employee of the Department.

A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed in the meeting between Agency and ICRC. The general purpose of Memorandum is to support civilian residents and displaced persons in the areas affected by an emergency in need of primary health care services have access to preventive and curative service in a timely manner.

For this purpose, primary health care is planned to be organized in line with modern standards in the health points of Borsunlu and Sarov villages of Tartar district, and Afatli village of Aghdam district. After renovations, health points will be equipped with necessary medical drugs and medical disposable products to provide primary health care services. As part of memorandum, training sessions will be organized to improve the skills of primary health care staff at rural health points. 

There was also an exchange of views on projects implemented in the regions with the support of the ICRC in cooperation with the Agency.

It was noted that, rural health points in Afatli, Ahmadagali, Tazakend, Evoglu, Borsunlu, Seydimli, Husanli, Sarov villages of Aghdam district, Mirzalar village of Shusha district were renovated by ICRC and commissioned last year.

ICRC donated to health points necessary medical supplies essential for provision of primary health care.
