The managerial staff of 15 state health facilities of Azerbaijan were trained at Ankara University

Within the framework of the "Protocol on provision of educational services and scientific cooperation" signed between the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) and Ankara University, training on Hospital Management has been organized at Ankara University from May 30 to June 10 of the current year. The purpose of the training is to adapt the current management mechanism of health facilities where mandatory health insurance is applied to the international practice, achieved by developing the knowledge and skills of the managerial staff of the hospitals.

The training organized by Ankara University and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) was attended by the delegation led by the deputy chairman of the Agency's Board of Directors, as well as directors and deputy directors of the regional central hospitals of the Agjabedi, Beylagan, Barda, Guba, Ujar, Gabala, Saatli, and Agdash districts, Ganja City United Hospital, the Clinical Medical Center, and the Sumgayit, Narimanov, Khazar, Pirallahi, and Lokbatan medical centers.

Making an opening speech for the training program, Nigar Bayramova, Deputy Chairman of the Agency's Board of Directors, thanked Ankara University and TIKA for organizing the training program and noted the importance of the event: "The introduction of mandatory health insurance in Azerbaijan made it necessary to adapt the management system of health facilities to international standards. The effective management of medical facilities is a factor that enables the improvement of the quality of medical services provided to the population. I believe that the 11-day training dedicated to hospital management will contribute greatly to this work. I would like to express my special thanks to the academic staff of Ankara University who developed and implemented the training program, personally to Mr. Nejdet Unuvar, the rector of the university, and to Serkan Kayalar, the head of TIKA. I am sure that, within the framework of our future cooperation with Ankara University, very useful projects will be implemented."

It should be noted that the training conducted by the professors of the Department of Health Management of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Ankara University covered topics such as the budget management and performance quality management of medical facilities, accreditation of hospitals, project evaluation, decision-making methods, human resources management, marketing, and public relations.

The trainers also informed the trainees about international practice in international health policy and reforms, health information systems management, health economics and economic evaluation, health insurance, and hospital relations.

In addition, within the framework of the program, the training participants visited Bilkent City Hospital and the Ibn Sina Hospital of Ankara University for a visual introduction to the topics they were taught. The participants visited emergency departments, clinics, and resuscitation departments of the hospitals and were provided detailed information about the work of the hospitals.
