At the initiative of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency), qualified medical examinations were organized for children living in the Azerbaijan Children's Union-Children's Shelter Reintegration Center as part of Children's Rights Month. The main purpose of medical examinations is to identify health problems early and to prevent complications in children who are in need of special care and deprived of parental care.
Children and adolescents aged 1-18 and women living in children's shelters underwent medical examinations included in the Benefit Package of mandatory health insurance. A total of 14 people, including two women, passed the medical examination.
They were examined by the medical staff of Children's Polyclinic No. 20, including a pediatrician, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, an allergist, and a traumatologist.
As a result of the examination, it was established that two children needed laboratory analysis (of hemogram, iron, ferritin, and vitamin D). It was also necessary for five people, including four children, to undergo functional-instrumental examinations (i.e., x-ray, ultrasound examination, magnetic resonance tomography, and electroencephalography); one child was referred to an otorhinolaryngologist, two persons were referred to an ophthalmologist, and one child was referred to a pediatric surgeon. As a result, it was decided that they will undergo examinations at relevant medical facilities. In addition, one pregnant woman was taken under medical control for antenatal care and childbirth assistance.
Three children received outpatient treatment, and the Agency provided them with necessary medicines.
It should be noted that the Agency always takes care of children and takes continuous measures to ensure their timely examination and treatment.
Children's Rights Month was announced by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, lasting between October 20 and November 20, on the eve of the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Children's Rights.
