Modern medical equipment donated to the Central Oilmen Hospital

07.05.2025, 13:32

A presentation ceremony was held at the Central Oilmen Hospital to mark the donation of advanced medical equipment by the Government of Japan. The event was attended by Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), Watanabe Katsuya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Azerbaijan, Musa Abbasov, Director of the Central Oilmen Hospital (COH), along with members of the hospital's medical staff.

In his speech, Zaur Aliyev emphasized that this donation reflects not only the strong friendship between Azerbaijan and Japan but also Japan’s global commitment to public health and humanitarian support. "Modern medical devices enable faster and more accurate diagnosis, allowing for timely interventions. This also facilitates more efficient and convenient care for our patients," he noted.
Vugar Gurbanov highlighted that the new equipment significantly enhances the hospital’s technical infrastructure and equips medical professionals with state-of-the-art tools. “This strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality healthcare services to our citizens,” he stated.

Ambassador Watanabe Katsuya noted that, as part of the project, three categories of medical equipment were donated: an angiography system, a portable X-ray machine, and ultrasound diagnostic device. These were supplied by leading Japanese manufacturers Canon and Fujifilm. He expressed hope that this initiative would contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations between Japan and Azerbaijan.

Hospital Director Musa Abbasov stated that the new equipment was particularly necessary to meet modern healthcare standards, especially the angiography system. Equipped with 3D imaging technology, the device enables complex and critical procedures such as coronary angiography, stenting, TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation), and EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair).

The Canon angiography system provides high-precision imaging to detect vascular conditions such as narrowing, blockages, aneurysms, congenital anomalies, and traumatic injuries. In addition to diagnostics, it supports real-time visualization during life-saving procedures like balloon angioplasty, stenting, and stroke interventions. The system’s C-arm design allows comprehensive viewing of the surgical area from multiple angles without repositioning the patient, saving crucial time during emergency treatments like thrombectomy.

Fujifilm’s digital X-ray machine enables high-quality imaging with minimal radiation exposure. Its mobile variant, designed for portability and compactness, allows for easy use in confined spaces, enhancing flexibility in clinical environments. The devices are coated with “Hydro AG,” an advanced antibacterial surface treatment that significantly reduces the risk of microbial contamination compared to traditional coatings.

The portable ultrasound equipment from Fujifilm is used for evaluating organ and tissue function and safely guiding medical procedures such as catheterization, biopsies, and anesthesia.
This advanced equipment will support the delivery of high-quality medical services to citizens covered by mandatory health insurance at the Central Oilmen Hospital.

It is worth noting that the donation was made under the Exchange of Notes signed between the Government of Japan and the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, as part of Japan’s Economic and Social Development Program.
