On October 30, the official opening ceremony of the “Medinex 2025” exhibition, an important and influential event in the medical field of the region, was held at the Baku Expo Center.
The ceremony was attended by Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Medical Insurance (Agency); Rasim Ismayilov, Deputy Minister of Health; Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) ; and Farid Mammadov, General Director of Caspian Event Organisers.
Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis, Ahliman Amiraslanov, emphasized that the “Medinex” exhibition has already become a tradition in Azerbaijan and highlighted its importance for healthcare development:
“Almost every year we gather for this exhibition, with heads of clinics, hospitals, and highly qualified healthcare specialists working in Azerbaijan's healthcare system. I believe this is an extremely beneficial event. I would like to take this opportunity to note that we regularly amend the Law on Medical Insurance. Purposeful work is being carried out throughout the country. As deputies, during meetings with the population in the regions, we observe increasing level of public satisfaction with healthcare services. Improving the quality of Azerbaijan’s healthcare is linked exclusively to the implementation of mandatory health insurance.”
The Chairman of the Board of the Agency, Zaur Aliyev, stated that as a result of reforms in the healthcare sector under the leadership of the head of state, the quality and accessibility of medical services have improved:
“The mandatory medical insurance system is one of the main pillars of these reforms. Every year, more than 5 million citizens benefit from services provided under mandatory medical insurance. It is gratifying that, over the past years, more services have been added to the mandatory health insurance coverage and will continue to be added. The number of services included in the Benefits Package has increased by 81%, reaching 3,315. However, these achievements are not only reflected in numbers. They demonstrate that citizens now have more equal access to medical services without financial burden. Ensuring that every person receives timely medical care, free from financial concern, and returns to a healthy life is our greatest success. Our main objective for 2025 is to further improve the Benefits Package in line with population needs, and to introduce coverage for prescription medications under insurance.”
The Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions' Executive Director Vugar Gurbanov highlighted that the application of modern technologies in healthcare ensures more flexible, efficient, and transparent management, increases patient satisfaction, and improves service quality:
“As the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions, we attach special importance not only to the organization of medical services, but also to implementing projects based on innovation, social responsibility, and public-private cooperation. Among several innovations, I would like to highlight the creation of the largest Robotic Rehabilitation Center in the South Caucasus. This center will raise the level of rehabilitation services through modern technologies and make patient recovery process more efficient.
Another important direction is innovations in the emergency and urgent medical care system. The effectiveness of this service has significantly improved thanks to the modernization of call centers, introduction of digital management systems, and enhancement of logistical capabilities.”
Currently, in addition to Azerbaijan, about 80 companies from Belarus, South Korea, China, Egypt, Oman, Uzbekistan, Poland, Kazakhstan, Italy, the Russian Federation, Turkiye, and Ukraine have confirmed participation in the exhibition. This year, foreign interest in Medinex has increased even further. Italy, Egypt, Oman, and Ukraine are represented with national pavilions, reflecting the growing international interest in Azerbaijan’s healthcare sector and cooperation opportunities.
