The Agency created a new opportunity for healthcare professionals

The State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance (Agency) provided free use of the online medical resources of British Medical Journal (BMJ) - "BMJ Best Practice" and "BMJ Learning" for doctors working at medical institutions in pilot areas. These online resources help physicians to improve their professionalism, clinical skills, knowledge, raise awareness on health-related innovations and and to conduct evidence-based research.

It should be noted that abovementioned resources are accredited by the Scientific-Medical Council of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the purpose of continuous medical education development.

"BMJ Best Practice" is an online information source that enables physicians to access easily recent updates with regard to decisions of diagnosis and treatment. BMJ Best Practice offers step by step guidance on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention which is updated daily using robust evidence based methodology and expert opinion.

The BMJ Learning, online training platform provides physicians with the opportunity to testtheir knowledge and keep up to date with the latest innovations in the field of medicine. Its interactive platform provides hundreds of patient-centred, case-based learning modules, covering non-clinical and clinical topics in more than 70 specialty areas.

These resources also include publications for residents, hospitals and primary health care physicians, medical organizations, researchers and medical scholars. The online magazine "BMJ" has regularly updated information on the treatment and diagnosis of various infectious and non-communicable diseases in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages. 454 topics were translated into Azerbaijani in the journal.

It should be noted that 108 physicians participated in the training sessions organized by the Agency in the pilot areas (Mingachevir, Yevlakh and Aghdash regions) on "Rules of using online resources of the Azerbaijani representation of the BMJ". A BMJ representative from each pilot region was selected to register on the BMJ online resource and all representatives were provided with an entry code and a password.
