The Agency held events as part of Children's Rights Month

In order to inform children about their rights to receive medical assistance and to provide them with timely quality medical services, a number of activities were carried out as part of Children's Rights Month by the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance. The representatives of the Agency held events on children's rights, international documents, and the acccessibility of the mandatory health insurance Benefit Package for children from October 20 to November 20. The events were held in the secondary school No. 23 named after T.Hasanov and secondary school No. 8 named after Lieutenant General K.A.Karimov in Baku. A total of 400 people participated in both events, including 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students, psychologists, and teaching staff.

In addition, a training was held for 90 people, including doctors, paramedics, psychologists, and parents in children's polyclinics No. 1 and No. 20 in Baku. At the event, detailed information was provided on the regulation of children's rights in local and international legislations, the correct treatment of and behavior with children, and the terms of use of mandatory health insurance for medical workers who work with children. In all events, participants were provided with informative materials.

Within the framework of Children's Rights Month and at the initiative of the Agency, qualified medical examinations were organized for the children living in Azerbaijan Children's Union-Children's Shelter Reintegration Center. A total of 14 children and teenagers aged 1-18 underwent medical examinations, as did women living in the children's shelter.

It should be noted that, to protect the health of future generations, children are a constant focus of the Agency. The Agency takes continuous measures for the timely examination and treatment of children. According to the preliminary reports submitted to the Agency, 35,620,650 medical services were provided in state health facilities under TABIB from January to October of 2022. About 10 million medical services were used by children, accounting for 27% of services.

From January to September of the current year, 1,346 medical services were provided to children who were referred to private medical facilities for services that could not be provided in state medical facilities. Of the abovementioned medical services, 387 were related to ophthalmology, 246 to traumatology, and 184 to cardiovascular surgery. There were 82 total cochlear implantation and endoprosthesis operations.

In addition, the Agency is implementing a pilot project called “Safe Maternity” together with relevant organizations. Within the framework of the project implemented to improve maternal and child health, it is planned to carry out various educational events among the population on capacity-building for medical staff working in the fields of birth and reproductive health, family planning, timely intervention in unwanted pregnancies, and others.

Children's Rights Month was announced by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, lasting from October 20 to November 20, on the eve of the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Children's Rights.
